So yeah we beat Maryland last night 55-6
I think we all know who is going to be the victor in the UVA vs VT game.

My highest score ever.
Sorry for the white squares but this is on my work computer and some things cannot be seen by normal people.

::FLAME ON::
So I go to the store yesterday and almost everyone I see is wearing one of those little wrist bands from Lance Armstrong to support the fight against cancer. Thats cool, good for them. I have lost family too, let me ask someone where they got it and why they wear it. Being myself I find some unsuspecting kid and ask "where did you get the yellow thingy" and he turns and replies "My mom got it for me, all the kids are wearing them. They even have other colors"
WHAT THE FUCK
So a little research is in order, I realize that they have these things for all kinds of reasons. Disease, Hunger, Cancer, etc etc etc. But it kills me that they are wearing them not for the cause, but rather so that they can be "cool". A search on eBay will turn up all sorts and they range in price from 1.00 (not so popular) to more than 20.00 (the yellow ones) and does any of this money go back to the fund? NO! It lines the pockets of the prick who is selling it, btw these things sell for a dollar from the charities they are supposed to support. After a little more reseach and asking more kids some questions...
I discover, there is a right and wrong way to wear them. Who came up with this shit, and didn't these things only just start selling a little while ago? Seriously, if you are going to wear them then wear them for the RIGHT reason, not because they are the in thing.

So I went out and got a new card to replace the burned out one from yesterday. Wow this card kicks ass.
So I purchased a new BFG GeForce 6800GT graphics card yesterday, in the hopes of playing Half Life 2 today. But no such luck, I got the card installed and all I see is complete crap. So tonight we return the card, and who knows when they will have more in stock. Upon closer inspection at work, it appears to be an issue in the slot interface, most likely due to the bent mounting bracket. This is what i get for trying to buy the openbox special. The bastard that had it furst probably got pissed at it and threw it out the damn window or something.

Always good to know just what it takes to secure a computer these days. Of course the only truly secure system is one that is never turned on.

So the latest BCS rank is out. UVA - 11, Tech - 18. And as we all should know the BCS is what decides a bowl game. Oh I so hope we win at Thanksgiving. Not much goings on as it is only Monday morning, but I do have a meeting. Icky, I really do wish I could avoid going to them. Maybe they will ship me back down to North Carolina again, but probably not this week.

Mwahahaha, so continuing with an earlier post, Miami beat UVA 31-21. I hear they put up a good fight but they did get beat. This weak the Cavs play Georgia Tech although the loss causes them to slip to 18, under VT at 15 although we have yet to play Maryland (on Thursday).
Sunday was cool, I went to the art gallery in Richmond and had quite a bit of fun until i was dragged out by my companions at closing time. I mean come on, there was bed a I could have stayed overnight. It was a modern art bed so it might not have been very comfortable but there was also that victorian era sofa.... Oh well, thats the way it goes.

Damnit, the computer crashed and I lost my post. Anyway, Friday I went out with friends in the evening for dinner and a few Long Island Iced Teas, while out I met my friends latest guy, maybe this one will be a keeper, I am taking bets on his longevity. Saturday is a bit of a blur, I know I went to lunch but beyond that things are rather fuzzy, don't know why. Maybe it was the Huricanes.

According to this article AOL is kicking its broadband customers out. Could this be the start of something bigger? Maybe I had better look for a new IM service.

So the UPS guy is stalking me, I am serious. Everyday, no mater what time I leave work, he is always pulling out in front of me from a side road on my way home. Very Sketchy.

Today Arafat passed away in Paris due to an unknown illness, now the world should turn its eye to Israel and see what is going to happen next.
The giant of computers, Microsquishy has released that Halo 2 generated 125 million dollars in US sales in the first 24 hours of release, this is the largest sum of money ever for a single product in the entertainment industry. But that's not a hard number to reach if you ask me, movie tickets cost at most 10 bucks and Halo 2 costs 50 bucks. I mean who could not have seen this coming. I have seen the game, and it is nothing more than a slight upgrade over the original, still no reason to waste my money on an Xbox.
As a note, there are more a lot more PlayStations in the world than Xbox, just goes to show that when you only have only one good game, makes it kind of hard to sell a console.

So Jones, the company that makes all those strange tasting sodas is at it again. They have a few holiday flavors for you to pick up and try. I will be staying away from them, thank you very much.

So if you haven't noticed, I added faces to the posts. Now I can assault you both verbally and visually.

Two goldfish were in their tank. One turns to the other and says, "You man the guns, I'll drive."
Anyway a kid in China is suing his mom for not buying him a computer when he got good grades. All I ever got was a little cash...

So I enabled comments, I don't know why exactly. Maybe to fuel my strange desire for feedback from people who randomly stumble across this creation of my alternate persona. Cause I know the people I tell about the blog will just flame me over the phone for it.

Ok for those of you who don't read the books, go read them. I was unwilling to read such a hyped up book simply because I thought it was all media and no plot, I mean it is a childrens book. But I read the first book in a college english class and have since read all the other books out until now, it is actually a pretty good series, and if nothing else read the first chapter of book 1 in a book store (only 17 pages) and see what you think.
If you are already a reader of the series then let me offer a bit of advice, go read the books to a child. I am reading book one to my cousin, who has this phobia about reading but is begging me to continue now. There is nothing more enjoyable then to see a childs face light up as his imagination paints a picture of the scene in his/her mind.
So go read a book, and turn off the stupid television.

Ok fair warning to all those who don't understand this, (I belive that is everyone but one or two people) you have been warned.
Let the smack talk begin...mwahahaha
Bumblebee: Can't wait for UVA to beat Tech over Thanksgiving.
Guess we will have to wait and see how the game against Maryland goes on the 18th huh?
- Gyr
For those of you who don't know, I am a Hokie Fan and we beat North Carolina 27 to 24 and are now ranked 16th in the Coaches poll and 20 in the BCS. However, UVA the number 1 rival to VT beat Maryland over the weekend to move into the number 11 spot with a BCS ranking of 14. The Hokies play Maryland Nov 18th with UVA playing Miami this week. As for basketball, it is not my specialty and so I stay well clear of the sport instead of sounding like an idiot.
Now onto the really fun stuff. I love computers, they are the most interesting of all my hobbies, unless you count cow tipping, and now dual video cards are available for the Athlon 64 system.
Gotta love that good news.

So today, just like yesterday (funny how my weekends are so boring) I worked on my uncle's shed. Again. But we have the tar paper on the roof now, and as usual no day in life of Gyr would be complete without something happening. So as if the gods did not hate me enough I had a door fall on me, just before we finished for the day. If you were wondering, the day started at 7am and ended at 5:30pm. Stupid door, I just knew we should have screwed into the wall. I guess that's what I get for building a 270 foot zipline from the chimney to the top of the shed. And now, for something completely different... Gadzooks! Heh, always wanted to use that in a sentence.
- Gyr
So I started working on my uncle's shed around 7am this morning and did not finish for the day until 5:30 pm. We only stopped because we ran out of sunlight, the shed stands 14 feet tall with a fist floor height of 8 feet and a second floor loft that is 6 feet high. We finished the sheathing for the roof today and tomorrow begin work on the shingles. I am so sleepy from working all day...

So thanks to the bastards down the hall I have Liquid Crystal Polymer all over my hands. They are installing a cubicle farm and someone droped something or another and scared the crap out of me. If you are an optimist (damn you all) then you can take my boss' observations to heart. My fingers are now cut resistant, flame retardant, and can still move. Down side, I have a nearly indistructible polymer on my hand! We called the manufacturer, it will come off in a few hours after my fingers sweat a little, and so far no luck at cutting it off. The exacto knife doesn't even scratch the stuff, and I never did feel the torch either. To anyone wondering why in the hell I have this stuff, blame my boss, cause that's all I can tell you. And to anyone wondering why I tried to use a torch, well, you just don't know me that well.

So Dell is getting sued and the BitTorrent comunity has finally shown up on the hit list.
And while I am here, an update to the 8-bit comunity, Grand Theftendo has arrived. Anyone have a ROM burner I can use?

Wow what an awesome movie, I drove all the way to Maryland just to watch it.
Sat in the theater all alone, and trully enjoyed the movie, and just to let anyone know who has not seen it yet...it has subtitles.
Great continuity between the two movies, all the way down to the little details. But no spoilers for the slackers who have not seen it yet.

So today is the first day of the rest of my life....
Well Duh!
Anyway, I have no idea what I plan on rambling about in this thing I have created, nor am I entirely sure why I have decided to allow you into my life in the first place. So be happy or I will ban your IP from the server
The RIAA has decided to be a bastard and not allow the free download of movies anymore, shame on you people for spoiling it for the rest of us. I for one do not like paying almost $8.00 for a movie ticket.
